How Beurt works

The whole idea in one line: the rota keeps the score, so none of you has to.

The three buttons on a job

• Done — ticks it off. Nobody gets pinged about it.
• Can’t — hands the job to whoever is freest. No blame, no debt. Use it when something came up.
• Swap — offers one of your jobs in exchange for someone else’s. They have to accept; nothing moves until they do.

What if someone just doesn’t do it?

Any housemate can mark a job as not done. It takes two taps, and the second tap shows exactly what it costs. The job moves to whoever is freest, and the minutes are added to the skipper’s coming weeks — so the rota quietly evens it out instead of someone having to bring it up at dinner.

Why does my week look heavier than my housemate’s?

Because everything is counted in your own minutes. Everyone says what each chore costs them, and the planner balances those numbers, not the number of jobs. If you said the bathroom takes you 60 minutes and someone else said 25, you will get it less often and more small jobs instead. You can see everyone’s numbers on the Balance tab — that openness is what keeps it honest.

How far ahead does it plan?

Twelve weeks. Future weeks are a preview: they shift if someone changes their availability, joins, leaves, or falls behind. The current week only changes when one of you does something.

Common questions

• Someone moved out. Open the House tab, tap their name, then “moved out — remove them”. Their chores are shared out and the rota re-plans.
• We want a chore gone, or more often. House tab → the chore → Edit. Changing how often it happens re-plans the coming weeks.
• My hours changed. House tab → your name → “Edit mine”. Finished jobs stay finished.
• I want it in my calendar. House tab → My calendar → Subscribe. It stays in sync, swaps included.
• Someone new wants to join a full house. Send them the invite link anyway — the home just grows and re-balances.
